Vice City in GTA 6: What Has Changed Since 2006
Vice City returns after nearly two decades. What the modern version looks like, and what carries over from the original.
The last playable Vice City was in 2006. Returning to it is the strongest piece of nostalgia Rockstar has, and the trailers use it deliberately.
What is visibly different
- Density. Traffic, pedestrians and interiors at a scale the older engine could not hold.
- Era. Modern day rather than the 1980s. The neon is still there, the decade is not.
- Scale. The city sits inside a much larger state rather than being the whole map.
The wider map is covered in our Leonida regions guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is GTA 6 Vice City the same map as GTA Vice City?
No. It is the same fictional city rebuilt at modern scale in a modern setting, not a remaster of the 2002 map.
